PLAYHOUSE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT GAME RULES
RULE 1 GAME OFFICIAL
There will be
two (2) accredited referees provided.
RULE 2 OFFICIAL TABLE
Game officials,
committee, and assigned staff are the only people allowed at official’s table
during a game. No talking to scorekeepers during game time. Questions can be
asked only during half time or time-outs. Anyone who violates these rules will
be given a warning than a technical foul. Team captain or the assistant team
captain must assign a designated person to coach the team when they are not
present.
RULE 3 PLAYING TIME
There will be
two halves. Each half will be 18 minutes in duration with running time. The
clock will be stopped at the last two (2) minutes of ONLY the second half, on
every whistle. If the team is ahead by ten (10) points or more in the last two
(2) minutes, the clock will NOT STOP. The
referee has the power to stop the clock at his discretion when there is an
unusual situation that warrants a delay.
RULE 3 TIME OUTS
Each team is
entitled to two (2) timeouts per half and the clock will be stopped. Total
of four (4) times outs. Time-outs will NOT carry over into the second half
or overtime. Only one (1) time-out provided in overtime. The referee has the power
to stop the clock at his discretion when there is an unusual situation that warrants
a delay. During a timeout a team has the choice to advance the ball to half
court.
RULE 5 HALFTIME
Halftime will be
2 (two) minutes in duration unless running behind schedule, then it will be 1
(one) minute. This will apply during “warm-ups” as well.
RULE 6 OVER TIME
* First overtime - running two (2) minutes – Clock stop at 1 min at every
whistle
* Second overtime - running one (1) minute - clock will be stopped at every
whistle
* Third overtime - no clock and it will be first team to score wins.
Each team will be honored ONE time out during any overtime. Timeouts not used will NOT be carried over.
RULE 7 GAME AND FORFEIT TIME
A team must have
a minimum of four (4) players to start the game. Team captain/representative
must verify all players are signed in at the score table. A three (3) minute
grace period will be given to all game times before forfeit is honored. The 3 min will be added to the SCHEDULED GAME
TIME (not clock time). If a forfeit is honored on Saturday, the opposite team
will get the WIN +20pts.
RULE 8 PROTEST
If a team would
like to protest against another player (age, ethnicity and height) on the
opposite team or on another team in their division, ONLY the captain can
address the situation with the tournament staff.
There is a $50 protest fee
PER PLAYER being protested. If the protest is valid, your $50 fee will be
refunded. The game must continue in play and the player(s) being protested, may
NOT play until they are cleared from the tournament staff. All decisions made
by the committee are FINAL!
General Manger Rolly Uclaray may approve any exceptions to this rule.
RULE 9 SHOT CLOCK (if accessible)
(CHAMPIONSHIP
GAME ONLY) Twenty-five (24) or Thirty (30) second shot clock will be in effect
during the second half of the championship game. If for some reason Playhouse
Las Vegas Basketball comes across any technical difficulties or cannot provide
a shot clock, the five (5) second closely guarded rule will apply.
***IMPORTANT*** Due to having multiple championship games playing at the same time, we will only have 1 shot clock on 1 court.
RULE 10 FOUL SHOT
Foul shots will
be taken during an entire game and in overtime. Each player will be entitled to
six (6) personal fouls. Fouls will be penalized as follows:

RULE 11 FREE THROW
Only six (6)
players allowed on the lane during free throw. Three (3) players from each team
including shooter.
RULE 12 SUBSTITUTION
Free
substitutions are permitted while the ball is NOT IN PLAY. The substitute MUST
report to the official table and wait in the substitution box before entering the
game. The signal is when the referee blows the whistle and calls for subs. Failure
to report at the official table will delay entry. Illegal substitution will
cost the substituting team a technical foul.
RULE 13 INJURY SHOOTER REPLACEMENT
In the event of
where a player is fouled and is injured, the team captain of the opponent will
choose from the four (4) players who are Currently on the floor/court and not
from the bench.
RULE 14 JUMP BALL
When the referee
calls for a jump ball, the two (2) players who last touched the game ball must
jump for the ball. Players on the court must take their position immediately.
The jump ball will be on the center of the court or on the free throw line.
Referee can call for a technical foul against the team that is delaying the
game.
RULE 15 GAME BASKETBALL
Basketball will
be furnished by Las Vegas Playhouse Basketball for games if needed. Teams may
provide their own basketball for tournament games.
RULE 16 ACCESSORIES
No jewelries of
any kind or rubber bands will be allowed during the game. (ONLY Tournament wristband will be allowed)
RULE 17 DUNK
Dunking is
allowed. However, you cannot hang on the rim. If this occurs, it will be
a technical foul towards the individual’s team.
RULE 18 BENCH
Only players and
coaches are allowed on the player’s bench during the game. (Names MUST be
listed on roster sheet) All spectators, fans or family are not allowed to sit
with the players. They must sit on the opposite side of the court. If this rule
is broken, it will be an automatic technical towards the team.
RULE 19 HIGH SCHOOL RULES
High school
rules are applied except on modifications mentioned above. In the event of any rule questions, the
committee shall have the authority to institute new rules or to change old rules, to maintain a continuity of
the overall sports program,
and justification of the rules shall be final.
RULE 20 PLAYOFF TEAMS
Playoffs on
Sunday. It will be determined by record and point spread of the 2 games played
on Saturday. If for some reason team(s) have the same record and point spread,
the final spot will go to the team who scored the most combined points of both
games played. If it is still a tie, then we will flip a coin.
RULE 21 NOT ALLOWED
No ice chests
are allowed in the gym. Violation of rule will receive a technical foul.
RULE 22 TEAM PHOTO
A team photo will be taken (from our staff) of all teams during their games
played on Saturday. If a player is not in the photos, they will NOT be allowed
to play during playoffs on Sunday. Player
MUST play at least 1 game on Saturday to qualify to play in the playoff games
on Sunday.
RULE 23 PLAYERS PLAYING PLAYOFF GAMES
Player must play at least 1 game during Saturday’s games. (This will be
determined by the team photo taken during your game on Saturday) If a team
would like to protest – refer to rule 8.
RULE 24 REGISTRATION/WAIVER
All players are required to sign registration waiver before playing in the
tournament. If a player(s) is playing in a tournament game and hasn’t signed the
waiver, it is automatic technical foul.
RULE 25 ASIAN PLAYERS
All players must
be of at least 25% Asian Oriental heritage. This includes Filipino, Cambodian,
Chinese, Indo-pak, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Hawaiian, and Vietnamese.
RULE 26 GRANDFATHERED IN PLAYERS
We have some
players that are grandfathered in certain divisions. The reason behind this is
because of our 10+ years of establishment, we’ve changed some of our divisions
but would like to honor the players that have supported our tournament from the
beginning. General Manager Rolly Uclaray has the final say on this rule.
